Introduction

The Clean Energy Lab is offering an internship for bachelor's, master's students, or recent graduates to join as a Research Assistant. This role involves conducting a lifecycle assessment (LCA) of renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines, with a focus on how circular economy practices, such as recycling and reusing components, can reduce environmental impact. You will use an open-source LCA software (e.g., OpenLCA) to conduct this analysis, making it ideal for those interested in clean energy and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct a lifecycle assessment (LCA) of renewable energy technologies (solar panels, wind turbines).
  • Analyse how circular economy practices, like recycling and reusing components, can reduce environmental impact.
  • Identify and use an open-source LCA software (e.g., OpenLCA or SimaPro) for conducting the assessment.
  • Collect and analyse data to evaluate resource use, emissions, and environmental savings.
  • Prepare reports and presentations based on your findings.
  • Collaborate on clean energy and circular economy projects in the lab.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's, master's student, or recent graduate in a relevant field (Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability).
  • Interest in renewable energy technologies and circular economy practices.
  • Experience or willingness to learn LCA methodologies and open-source software.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessment is a plus.
